@wyolatex I'm writing a book on Celtic myth, who was your favorite god or goddess or what was your favorite aspect of celtic myth?
wyolatex · 41-45, M
Lug. I like how the gods and goddesses seem to cover a wide range of areas! As far as a myth...I would have to say Sinend and the Well of Knowledge, along with the Irish invasion myths.
Lux127 · 22-25, F
Awesome, when I was doing research on celtic myth, a lot of stuff was difficult to gain access too and it didn't have as much information as Greek myth about how the God or Goddess appeared
wyolatex · 41-45, M
@Lux127 As I understand it, because it was a rich oral tradition, there are some holes to fill in the narrative, as opposed to say the Greeks and their traditions and myths.
Lux127 · 22-25, F
@wyolatex That's very true
wyolatex · 41-45, M
@Lux127 Did you find your research difficult to conduct? Is the Celtic tradition as well researched as say the others? I imagine that you would have to go to Ireland etc. in order to have access to archives and collections of those particular works.

My research was difficult to find, but the God I wanted to focus on, Ankou, I found a story of how he became a God, and I played off of that, adding to his origin story, like tying in the banshee myth to Ankou and how he created the first wailing woman. But I may go to Ireland next year to study, so I may be able to further continue my research there.

@Lux127 That sounds very interesting! I have been to Ireland 3 times and highly recommend it! It is a beautiful and incredibly welcoming country. I loved Dublin, even though it was a little touristy and expensive. The west coast is breathtaking.
Lux127 · 22-25, F
Yeah, Dublin is where I'd go too. That's also where my story takes place
wyolatex · 41-45, M
@Lux127 That is great! I hope you get to go. Besides Celtic Mythology, what are your other areas of interest, topics etc.?
Lux127 · 22-25, F
@wyolatex I think the history of vampires is pretty interesting, or werewolves, anything supernatural related and I'm interested in it. I also am really interested in photography, what about you?
wyolatex · 41-45, M
@Lux127 I love history, military history and political theory. I am a voracious reader and love to get lost in a book. I think the American Civil War and World War 1 are my favorite periods to read about, but American history from the Civil War to the Cold War is the most dynamic in terms of "modern" growth.
Lux127 · 22-25, F
@wyolatex I love history and can get so lost in a book that I stop reading and am confused about where I am. It's an incredible thing to get lost in a story.
wyolatex · 41-45, M
@Lux127 Favorite things to read?
Lux127 · 22-25, F
@wyolatex I love a good dystopian story or science fiction and fantasy, it's so hard to choose, but now I've been reading more and more contemporary stories and romance. I'm a sucker for a good romance, but tends to raise my expectations of the real world a tad to high. What about you?
wyolatex · 41-45, M
@Lux127 Fiction, fantasy especially Terry Pratchett. I love the Outlander series and am drawn to both heaving bosoms and historical fiction! I will gladly sit down and read history, but I do like to take a break for lighter
reading...does that sound snobbish? 😳 I am sort of into erotica...but in limited amounts.
Lux127 · 22-25, F
@wyolatex no, it doesn't sound snobbish at all
wyolatex · 41-45, M
@Lux127 Ok, good. Who is your favorite author?
Lux127 · 22-25, F
@wyolatex The most impossible question. For contemporary it's Colleen Hoover and for fantasy it's Cassandra Clare.
wyolatex · 41-45, M
@Lux127 I know...I hate it as well. I guess a better question would be who you don't mind reading at any time. Who do you go to in those moments where you need to lighten your life a bit! I have read neither of those two. I looked them up though and I have seen their books in passing. Why those two?
Lux127 · 22-25, F
@wyolatex Colleen Hoover was my first adult book read. She is like the adult version of Nicholas Sparks, and makes me feel love from her words as well as heartache by the final page. Cassandra Clare was my first massive read, the books hitting around six hundred pages, and I loved the characters who made me laugh, cry, and feel any spectrum of emotions, plus her books all tie in together which is an extra layer of awesome
wyolatex · 41-45, M
@Lux127 Sounds like a solid reason to have a book crush.
Lux127 · 22-25, F
@wyolatex yeah. I have way too many book crushes. I just wish the characters in the books were real.
wyolatex · 41-45, M
@Lux127 Me too! But that is the beauty of reading. You get the chance to identify with people who, while made up, can be imbued with the qualities that we find special and important to us.
Lux127 · 22-25, F
@wyolatex yeah, plus I don't really connect with people in real life, I have too many walls up.
