I shake out my footwear before putting them on, haven't found a snake yet and have only found one snake in the house so far since I moved here.

no the man in these boots is not snake friendly
good ones i leave alone ,,bad ones get lead poisoning

I have been in situations in which I would shake my shoes/boots before putting them on, just to make sure a snake or scorpion hadn't taken up residence overnight.
