And severely hurts the solar industry in the US, which has been growing at more than 15 times the rest of the economy. He takes a whack at China, damages the alternative energy industry that he despises, and pleases his base. Oh, and loses many American jobs.

@snowbelt In a desperate bid to appease his oil buddy donators he'll isolate the U.S. in energy consumption.
Oil is dying. The rest of the world figured that out about 20 years ago.
Japan and Europe are now building vehicles with alternate power sources and doing the same for new housing.
Coal; oil and gas supplies are dwindling. As we knew they would thirty years ago. And the scientists and engineers have slowly moved us away from relying on it.
So the race is on for the first nation to become energy independent.

@Picklebobble2 Even Secretary Tillerson knows it and was planning for it when he was the head of ExxonMobil. There will always be oil and coal, but they will be minor sources for power and specialty chemicals in the future. Like you said, the rest of the world knows it, and most people in the US know it. We just hurt ourselves by sticking our heads in the ground and ignoring reality.

@snowbelt This is the problem when you have folk representing you who are just too old !
So caught up in the age old 'just-take-the-bribe-from-big-business-smile-and-move-on' mentality without even realizing those dinosaurs are being overtaken by your Elon Musk /Bill Gates/ creative types !!

@Picklebobble2 You have a point about their philosophy, but I don't think it is an age issue. After all, Senator Sanders aligns more with Musk/Gates than the bribers like Tillerson/trump.
Picklebobble2 · 56-60, M
@snowbelt But Sanders whole outlook on any number of issues is waaaay ahead of traditional political thinking. Even for 'wooly-mammoth' Democrats !

It was so obvious during the run up to the candidate selection that Sanders was the better of any of the other candidates..... As i've said in other political posts on these pages, gotta take the money out of being able to buy an election, otherwise folk like Trump and Clinton become your only choices !

@Picklebobble2 Sadly true, my friend.
