@Fernie Nope its still the present..yess less then before but it still is. Not all countries allow citizens to hold guns and even so not everyone knows how to control it. You can't carry a gun everywhere you go.
Sure you can learn self defense and it might be life saving but how much can it do when they're two.. don't tell me you don't walk faster when your alone at night in a shady area?

@celine211 Oh Celine (((())) You may never be stronger, but you can be quicker, smarter. I know things are so huge and hopeless right now. You have battle scars and knowledge, you are a warrior. Educate, volunteer. I have a fear of guns (long story) however, I DO carry brass knuckles and a knife when I go out.

periods, childbirth, being expected to do 80% of the work in raising a child, not being taken seriously in male-dominated hobbies or careers, cat-calling, having politicians think it's okay to make jokes about sexually assaulting you, having old white men make all the laws about what you can and can't do with your body, (personal one) having to unlearn things like the competitive, toxic mindset you have in regards to other women in terms of appearances and fighting for male attention... etc.
