Why are some people so hateful and mean ?

I’m genuinely curious, why do people love to down talking on others or their appearance and the things they enjoy ? Is that some kind or pleasure ? Or do they secretly hate themselves?

I would assume they hate themselves, but if they can nitpick at other it draws their focus from themselves

@SW-User im alive, maybe not well but alive.....a positive temperature is the best news I've had so far this year
