Site recs for a place to do basic journaling?

So I think journaling would be a good way to help with the homesickness and culture clashes since I've gotten here. But I'm wanting a site with ACTUAL community and as little drama as possible. Livejournal looked decent but there seems to be no actual interconnection between the members. Blogging is just meh. I like the interaction of ideas and freeflow of community. Any recs?

Here is good but I think filters are useful to avoid weird stuff.

@sometimeslonelytoo SW seems good for basic talk, ranting and interaction. But the perverts and political crap are getting annoying after a few days.
