Phone issue

My phone is automatically going into voicemail and won't let me go to e-mail or messages.
Is this something I can fix or is it a symptom of something beyond the capabilities of a thick thumbed tech numbskull ?

@SW-User Tried that....many times !
Emptied everything !
Managed to download my photos to the PC so then wiped the lot on my phone.
Emptied the trash also :(

@SW-User ugh ! Time was you had an address book for details.
People WROTE to you. Using snail-mail !
If life was SO urgent you'd send a telegram !
And you kept change in your pocket in case you needed a public phone.
Today everybody EXPECTS you to be available 24/7 !
You NEED a piece of tech. that enables you to send the most insignificant text/e-mail of no consequence, and phone makers create app. rubbish you don't need and fail to take care of basics!!
What a world !
