Phone issue

My phone is automatically going into voicemail and won't let me go to e-mail or messages.
Is this something I can fix or is it a symptom of something beyond the capabilities of a thick thumbed tech numbskull ?

@Picklebobble2 Try rebooting it. Hold down both buttons at the same time till it shuts down.

Power goes on. Diverts straight to voicemail. No message. Can't access SMS/MMS.
