He brought inspiration
He has grace
He has humility
He wasn’t a perfect president but he was sincere enough to admit to his mistakes and moved on in a professional manner.
He wasn’t afraid to go for a dream when so many negatives told him not to.
He encouraged others to go for their dreams.

I'd forgotten he had, but since I am not American it is of interest but not an ideological matter to me, so I took the trouble to look it up.

This is what Wikipedia says:

..... his "extraordinary efforts to strengthen international diplomacy and cooperation between people".[1] The Norwegian Nobel Committee announced the award on October 9, 2009, citing Obama's promotion of nuclear non-proliferation[2] and a "new climate" in international relations fostered by Obama, especially in reaching out to the Muslim world.[3][4]

It does add that:

The Nobel Committee's decision drew mixed reactions from US commentators and editorial writers across the political spectrum, as well as from the rest of the world.

It would seem too that the irony was not lost on Mr. Obama, of winning an international peace award whilst C-in-C of an entire nation's armed services

in the midst of two wars

He is the fourth US President to have won the award, the others being Messrs. Roosevelt, Wilson and Carter, the last after leaving office.

He became president in January of 2009 and received the prize in october of the same year. That is a very short time to do enough to merit a prize.
Consider Mother Theresa who worked a lifetime in the slums of Calcutta and compare that to Obama's supposed contribution.

I've never been able to figure that one out. Maybe the Nobel folks thought if they gave him the prize he would work for peace? I doubt they were that dumb.
