Why do you lie to yourself

If I lie to myself, it's because the truth is just too painful and I don't feel like I can deal with it right now. I still have these dreams in my head about all these things that were supposed to happen, until stupid reality reared its ugly head and messed everything up. If only life would just cooperate with me. I knew what was supposed to happen. I still feel like I know what's supposed to happen, it's just not happening.

Sorry for rambling. I just needed to vent a little. These lies we tell ourselves can really mess with our heads.

And the worst lie of all is to tell someone you love them, or really care for them, when you don't. Lots of other lies I can shrug off, but that one gets me every time.
