Do you scribble your riiffs down for consistency or just go with them as they happen?

When I went to school they were call riffs but maybe the terms have changed.

I, being from the south, may not have the same or even correct word but I write a number sequence to keep consistent. @hippyjoe1955

@manandwoman That's cool. I simply have never heard of impromptu music referred to as rips before.

@manandwoman Ok you didn't have to on my part. I wasn't sure if the terminology hasn't changed. lol. I don't keep up with slang that changes on a whim.

@manandwoman Riff simply meant a musician used his/her instrument to create otherwise unwritten music as he played. That was called a riff. It may also apply to altering a written piece to make it sound similar but different.
