@Nimbus Larry Jones was a preacher who founded the "Feed The Children" charity, every time Oklahoma had a disaster it brought in huge amount of donations. A local newspaper dug around and found out he used the charity's money to loan millions to his son, who defaulted on the loan...he also gave himself a raise without authorization and squandered quite a bit of the money on non-essential stuff...took a charity that one time did a lot of good and corrupted it, and his own office staff spied on him and found a stash of porn magazines in Jone's office, which they exposed to the media....he was later ousted from the charity which he had founded 30 years before.

@Nimbus About finished me for giving to charities, I do donate to food banks and for disaster relieve drives though. I had given to that charity a few times and they were even having fundraising in the schools for it at one time, no more. After he was forced out the charity merged with World Neighbors, another Oklahoma City charity and hopefully it will never be corrupted again.

@cherokeepatti I know what you mean.
I used to give money to homeless people on the street but discovered some were 'professional beggars' earning more money than me per day!
That was the end of it.

@Nimbus oh there have been people masquerading as homeless and driving new cars and wearing suits when they aren't begging, they can make more $ in some cities from begging than they can working a job, and it's tax-free too since it's cash money.

@Nimbus I have to wonder how they'd feel to actually become homeless for one reason or another and no resources to fall back on besides begging and then discover people were so burnt out on fake homeless-beggers that they wouldn't donate to them any longer?
