Need a possible myth dispelled. Is it true
that if you keep your hand on the gear shift on a 5 speed it wrecks your gears? I love keeping my hand on the gear shift.

Unless you're applying some type of force to it, there is absolutely nothing that's going to become an issue as a result of resting your hand on the shifter.
Keep it up (if you still drive a stick) because it drives me crazy riding with a girl who does that or just drives a manual in general.
