Yes, while in college I met Coretta Scott King, Rosa Parks, Stevie Wonder, Julian Bond, Andrew Young. Through friends and family I met Willie Brown, Gavin Newsom, Nancy Pelosi, Diane Feinstein and Barbara Boxer, as well as Angela Davis and Maya Angelou.
@bijouxbroussard I’m in awe reading that list. What an amazing journey life has given you.

@bijouxbroussard Nice list there!😉
@SW-User I met the first few at a celebration for what would’ve been Martin Luther King Jr’s 50th Birthday. Since I was in the music department I got to move around freely and was introduced to people scheduled to speak and Stevie Wonder who performed with local choirs. My family was pretty active in local politics, too.

@bijouxbroussard Fantastic! ☺
@SW-User I also met the late Huey Newton, twice. First time I was 13 at a Panther Food drive helping to pass out food, and he called me “Baby X” and thanked me. The second time was when I was 22 and a friend and I ran into him at Ivey’s in Oakland. He invited us to join him for a drink, and we did.
