We pay 14ZAR per litre. There are 3.785 litres in a USgallon. So we pay 53ZAR per Gallon. 3.86 US dollars per gallon.
@Lochlee That's pretty rough! I remember shortly after I started driving it got up to about $4/gal here. I was pretty pissed XD

@FormerChild South Africa my dear...ah well. You'd think because we managed to squeeze fuel from coal it would be cheaper...
walabby · 61-69, M
@Lochlee It's about US$4.20 a gallon here in Australia...

Wow. Well, I must admit I was surprised when I made the conversion...I always thought we were paying much more than other countries. But apparently not. Thanks for that perspective.

@Lochlee I redid the calculation. It's actually about US$3.85/US gallon here in Au... not quite so bad...

But still surprisingly close to SA. I really thought we were worse off.

@Lochlee Practically exactly the same. I think it's more expensive in Europe...
Lochlee · 51-55, F
@walabby I will google it for interests sake.

@Lochlee I just did. Prices in West Europe range from $5.39 to $6.40/gallon, it seems...

@walabbyThat is really interesting. I thought that our inflation and being a developing country would translate into higher fuel prices...we are always bemoaning the hikes in fuel prices. Now I realise that in this area, we are not so badly off.

@Lochlee In Venezuela, petrol is only 39c/gallon... but they do have their own.
