I take it you've read the book 1984 by George Orwell.

But there are two differences between what was going on in that story and what's actually going on today:

1. Instead of being watched through our TV's, we're actually being watched through our computers.

And, more importantly . . .

2. In the book 1984, the people knew that they were being watched. Today most people are blissfully unaware that the government can, and does, snoop through our email, check out our favorites, bookmarks, and search history, and monitor our social media and internet activity. And they can even read our text messages and listen to our phone calls, and track our whereabouts (if we use smartphones) if they really want to.

As disturbing as 1984 was in its time, we actually a much more dangerous world now than the one George Orwell had envisioned.
