@InterstellarTerror wow u kn ur cars
SW-User
@InterstellarTerror .. it was an F250 .. 3 on the tree, but small block V8
Probably not well. I know "how." Somebody took me out and taught me. That was the first and last time I drove a stick.

Yes, I prefer a standard over an auto.
SW-User
Yes but currently drive an auto
TheProphet · M
Yes I can. Can't you?
In Europe most cars are manual and automatics are very expensive and limited to not every car. I drive an automatic Suzuki shift. I learned to drive in a manual Mini Cooper and passed my test in an automatic Mini Cooper.
SW-User
Yes, but not well when large hills are involved.
SW-User
@SW-User Yes, it's helpful. I can't decide who's in more danger....the people behind me or the ones in front, lol. The e-Break helps those behind, but heaven help those in front when I suddenly jolt forward. 😂 I stick with automatics...
SW-User
@SW-User haha I always wait a little for the people in front of me to start pulling away. I love driving manual. I'm not the greatest at it, but I enjoy it. I feel like it forces the driver to pay more attention to driving. It seems like it makes you a safer driver because you are more alert.
SW-User
@SW-User You're probably right. I'm sure with a bit more practice I'd do well. It's just not something I've gotten around to....yet. :-)
SW-User
Yes but a modern day automatic is way better in every way.
@SW-User Unless you're racing.
SW-User
@InterstellarTerror even racing. They accelerate faster and get better gas mileage than manuals, both of which were the whole reasons to choose a manual over an auto.
@SW-User Clearly you don't know autocross. But that's okay.

Yes, I do know how to drive a stick shift -- makes it much easier to rent a car when traveling internationally.
tallpowerhouseblonde · 36-40, F
Yes . I'm British and most cars here are stick shift. We just call them manual.I prefer to change gears myself.
Newandimproved · 70-79, M
not in a while, but I can. it's a dying skill - and not really necessary

sort of like knowing how to parallel park in many parts of the world
SW-User
Yes and I dont think I would want to own an automatic again. Manual is way more fun.
SageWanderer · 70-79, M
Yes, I consider it an anti theft device.
@SageWanderer Seriously though. Someone broke into my sister's 911 thinking they were going to steal it. Couldn't get the thing to go. 😂 I mean it sucked but a broken window is easier to get fixed than replacing a stolen car.
SageWanderer · 70-79, M
@InterstellarTerror I have two vehicles, one is an automatic as it is easier to tow but the everyday vehicle is standard for that reason.
JRVanguard · 26-30, M
No, I have a general gist of how to do it but I’ve never needed to know
SailorMarz · F
I looked it up on youtube & learned...never got to put those skills to the test tho lol
