Why Do Americans Value A Piece Of Cloth So Highly?

Why do these morons think a flag means anything? I respect my country, but I don't cry about the flag. It means nothing ultimately. If someone shits on the British flag then whatever, they needed a shit. Is America so empty of real meaning that a flag means that much?

The American flag as with any countries flag which are all (as you so ignorantly mentioned over and over) made of cloth and each of these “cloth “ flags represents the symbol of that country which in turn represents and symbolizes all the poeple who patriotically sacrificed thier lives to make each country what it is today and should be respected with patriotism and pride in what the country and its flag stand for. I greatly respect my countries flag and what it stands for and I also greatly honor and respect those that made the ultimate sacrifice and those that are fighting for and will fight for this great country.
My father fought in Vietnam 101st airborne and he lost a lot of his good friends overthere fighting for that piece of cloth you so ignorantly disrespected by even asking this ignorant question

So there is your answer to your question why anyone not just Americans should honor and respect thier countries flag / “cloth”
As for your question , after reading every single comment and reply in this thread I’ve come to notice that most of your comebacks / arguments are mainly the same in that and I quote “it’s just cloth” and I’m sure everyone here knows that fact so the fact that that’s pretty much your only argument tells me that you truely have no moral or patriotic highground to stand on when it comes to calling anyone else a moron for honoring thier countries “cloth” symbol / flag.

Secondly I would like to bring up a question myself regarding the real reason why you posted this ignorant, insulting, judgemental, closed minded question ,is it really about the flag in itself or the fact that those football players took thier knees in protest.

@Highonheels I've yet to have anyone give a valid reason as to why it's more than just a piece of cloth. Hence replying in that manner. Most of it just white noise, like your reply.

@MaryJo1996 me and many others have given you very valid reasons you just choose not to open your ignorant little mind and except it for what it is because your just a troll out trying to stir up sh*t for your own personal sick twisted pleasure and oh by the way have a horrible day too you.
We’re finished here goodbye.

@Highonheels To add more to this. Your father was fighting for his country, not a piece of cloth. I'm sure the piece of cloth could've been a picture of a donkey doing a giant turd, and he'd have still fought for his country.
MaryJo1996 · 26-30, F
@Highonheels Sick and twisted? No. Baffled? Yes. Embarrassed for people who think "disrespecting" a piece of cloth is more important than a peaceful protest over people's human rights, specifically black people? Yes. Makes me wonder if those people are just a bunch of racists.
Highonheels · 51-55, M
@MaryJo1996 yes he fought for his country but he also fought for what this country stands for which is symbolized by the flag , you just don’t get the jist of symbolism do you but your right it really doesn’t matter what the flag looks like but it called patriatism that is fighting for what you believe in and any symbols that represent that belief

@Highonheels You said we were done. Now hurry along.

@MaryJo1996 i wondered when you'd play the racism card. It was not just a "peaceful protest". People (of all races) pay a lot of money to watch these entitled millionaires strut their stuff. They were on company time, paid to be there and in front of thousands of spectators there and on TV who paid big money to watch. They came to watch football, not to be a captive audience watching a "peaceful protest."

Those players, like all Americans, have a Constitutional right to protest, even in ways that insult the flag or anthem or are hateful and despicable to those who see them. Even conservative justices of the Supreme Court like Antonin Scalia have forcefully affirmed that right. It is one of the freedoms for which brave Americans of all races have fought and died. The objection was not just that this was a "peaceful protest." It was an abuse of the players' privileged position. Many people stopped watching NFL games after that and some bars stopped showing them. That is their right too in a free society and has nothing to do with racism.

Thank God no players behaved that way at the Super Bowl. The Eagles, a band of Bible-believing brothers as they are called, most Black, were cheered on to victory by people of all races. Throwing around insults like "bunch of racists" is a new low, all too common on the Left. Sadly it devalues a term that should be used where it applies, not thrown around irresponsibly in a way that renders it, in your phrase, "empty of real meaning."

@SW-User I didn't play the racism card, thanks. I said it makes me wonder. Please read properly.

A common rhetorical device for introducing a slur without taking responsibility for it. "I wonder if you are being intentionally obtuse" [but I don't actually say you are]. See also paralipsis or apophasis.

@SW-User Or, i was doing exactly what i said and you're just reading too much into it...

Pretty i know what i was doing, even if you want to think it's something else for the sake of your narrative
SW-User
@MaryJo1996 i'm glad that if i said that "I wonder of you are being intentionally obtuse," you would read it as an autobiographical comment, a report about something going on in my mind, and not be offended.
MaryJo1996 · 26-30, F
@SW-User I literally wouldn't care less.
SW-User
@MaryJo1996 good for you! As you can tell from the comments here, not everyone takes so kindly to being called a moron or a racist.
MaryJo1996 · 26-30, F
@SW-User Never called anyone a racist. Learn to read properly, you frightfully dull old woman.
SW-User
@MaryJo1996 see above for my response to that, you obtuse, opinionated little girl - not that I would ever call you that, but looking at the evidence, I have to wonder.
MaryJo1996 · 26-30, F
@SW-User Do i really have to block you to stop you boring me? I hate doing that, it's childish, but it's getting that way.

Accept that i dont think any of the points that have been made are valid enough to change my mind, and move on.
SW-User
absolutely, and i hope you one day learn how to make a point respectfully and reply to alternative arguments in a civil way that furthers discussion. I hate seeing an important, interesting discussion reduced to an exchange of insults. Don't worry, I don't plan to contribute again.
