Why Do Americans Value A Piece Of Cloth So Highly?

Why do these morons think a flag means anything? I respect my country, but I don't cry about the flag. It means nothing ultimately. If someone shits on the British flag then whatever, they needed a shit. Is America so empty of real meaning that a flag means that much?

@xCoinx @xCoinx you need a flag to be patriotic? Weird. Very weird.

@MaryJo1996 How so?
Look at the difference between Orthodox and Catholic christianity, one supports the use of icons, crucifix, images of the saints, Mary and Jesus the other doesn't.
Why are Icons so important to catholic christians? Because they provide a way of embodying an abstract concept, by use of icons they feels they have a way of communicating with something they cannot possibly understand otherwise.
American love of country and what the flag symbolically represents is very much the same thing.

@xCoinx i'm a Catholic thanks, and no icon defines my beliefs.

@MaryJo1996 I'm not arguing about your personal beliefs. I'm telling you there was a major schism between the Greek Orthodox church and the Catholic Church and it was over the use of Icons. There were other things as well leavened vs unleavened bread, orthodox and catholic christians had over time started doing the sign of the cross differently but the main issue was over Icons.
But we digress, the flag does not define america, but it symbolically represents all the beliefs some patriots understand america embodies, it gives people a symbol that connects them to their forefathers and to their as yet unborn children. Do you really not see my point or are you just being argumentative?

Your keyword was your 12th....was. The world has moved on...Americans should move on from seeing a piece of cloth as a big deal. It's not.

@MaryJo1996 Well some people would disagree with you. And we live in a world where people are allowed to have different opinions on things.
MaryJo1996 · 26-30, F
Opinions can be wrong and can be stupid if they're based on a load of shit.
xCoinx · 31-35, M
@MaryJo1996 Thats your opinions, and you have a right to feel however you wish

I think it's sad that youbneed a symbol. Why can't you just love your country and others without that piece of cloth?
