The NFL is fining the Pittsburg Steelers players who didn't participate in the national anthem ceremony before the game. Guess they forgot they signed a contract, code of conduct and all of that.

@firefall there's a contract and the players are getting paid, how hard is that to understand? Most of those players would not be getting rich if they had to look for work somewhere else....

@cherokeepatti The contract details specific duties & remunerations. I'll put hard cash on the fact that it doesn't include 'obey all the NFL whims' or 'demonstrate artificial patriotism' anywhere in the contract

Simply saying, they've signed a contract, they have to obey any whim of their owner, just reveals the underlying worldview of the speaker.

@firefall They signed a contract stating that they will be on the field at the sideline by the beginning of the national anthem. That same contract notifies them that if they are not on the field they are then subject to fines.
