It is especially strange if you haven't seen the rest of the Alien series. Note that Predator is not part of the series, they were only crossed over twice after which they were officially declared part of the same universe, but have no intersection outside AvP that I know of. Thus the alien series would refer to Alien 1-4, Prometheus and Covenant. AvP is still worth watching as part of the series though. As is Predator if you watch it separately. Both have their merits. :)

Alien vs Predator: Requiem
Prometheus
Alien: Covenant
That's all of them I think :P
The AvP movies may be left out if you aren't interested, since you won't miss much of the original story. They are a fun watch though, and keep the names of both franchises high 😁
