If I tell my child not to date outside their race, does that make me a racist ?

Now I want you to think long and hard about this question. Some people believe that cultures should not also mix. Some say oh it would be too difficult an ordeal or life to marry or date someone outside of your own race or ethnicity. Some people have been told this by both parents, but is this really the right thing to say to a child. Now if I were to tell my own child, not to date outside of their race ever. Does this make me a racist. 😐

Yes I think that is what will make of you to some extent. What would be the reason though? It is interesting how the unknown of other cultures or ethnicity seem to scare or deter people away. I am of a mixed racial background and I think my world has opened up so much more than the others who tend to stay in their own "mix". Then again, what is the definition of race. If you check your ancestry, no one is really of one pure ethnicity. We are all kind of mixed up and interconnected in our blood.

Instead, it is the values of a person that we should be looking at.

@majesticsea Values, heart, morals, integrity. These are a few things that definitely matter to a lot of people. Skin color is physical. Beauty is physical. What lies inside a person is where it all counts. ☺
