When you were growing up, how did you feel about other people shortening your name?

Since my name in real life is David, a lot of people simply refer to me as Dave in person and I never really liked it to be honest.

I have always been David to my immediate family, so other people (relatives, new people I'd meet, etc.) calling me Dave always felt weird and awkward to me. Not that I ever said anything about it back then, but it still feels that way to this day.

i understand when people shorten my name. my full first name is rather long.

i prefer David to Dave, as well. :)

@SW-User Thank you, I appreciate you saying that :) I suppose that's one thing I can thank my father for (he was the one who gave me the name).
