Is it weird that when I ask if a house has a second floor I say does it have stairs

In some places it would be known as a first floor rather than a second floor. Do you say just stairs or upstairs?

Perhaps a bit. It may have stairs leading to basement level or to surface level.

Ah. Regional differences. Most people have basements where I live.
