It depends. I had a crush on this guy when I was in high school and I found out he had a crush on me, so we started talking. After three days he stopped talking to me and I did not understand why so he pulled me to the side after one of my classes and told me he did not like me anymore😭. I was mad and I thought I hated him because he humiliated me but deep down I still liked him though.

Sometimes, I cannot help but like someone because they like me, although I might not like them nearly as much. I think it's only natural to want to be liked. By the same token, if someone stops liking me, I find it difficult to like them still, I might admire some qualities about them, but not like them. I think liking a person and/or admiring qualities about them are two different things. One uses a thought process, appreciating specific qualities, and one is more emotional, and we cannot help how we feel only how we interpret things that cause us to feel certain things.

twice that ever happened in my life one that made me change my looks second one made me change my personality too not caring.. liking them back never crossed my mind thinking about it i was more focused on whats wrong with me... pretty sure thats never gonna happen again as i cant even like someone ,id date but doesnt mean id like them.

Yes. If I find out they have a SO, or I assume they're not interested in me or I don't stand a chance with them, my feelings don't last very long. My feelings only last for as long as I think I have a chance. Having a crush on someone already in a relationship has always felt odd to me.

Maybe I don't stop liking them but that like goes to the back burner and I detach from them. Eventually I do forget about my like for them.
