Why is it ok for omnivores to criticise a vegan diet

But the minute a vegan criticises an omni diet, all hell breaks loose?

I have no idea what you're talking about, but then I don't pay attention to stuff on here unless my friends are involved. In real life, where I live, I don't see any omnivores graffiti-ing around my town about how right they are and how wrong vegans are - but I regularly see graffiti saying things about "it's not your milk" etc. and some of it can be rather aggressive. I saw a bloke writing some recently, actually in chalk, on the ground in the outside pedestrian area of my local shopping centre ... Vegans have also been known to physically attack people eating or selling meat products. How many vegans can honestly say they've been beaten up, covered in paint or rotten eggs, or had the food they were holding or selling damaged or spoiled, by omnivores? How many omnivores genuinely hate (or feel morally superior to) vegans? None that I know. Some people are a bit insensitive about your feelings when they groan on about how they don't see how you can only eat veggies - but in all fairness, the vegan I know best doesn't actually like most vegetables - I don't know what she actually does eat these days! People also tend to be narrow-minded about women who are pregant or nursing, and children. But it's rare for them to be aggressive about it, and they're usually genuinely fearful for the health of the vegan involved.

I'm an omnivore, and you can criticise my diet as much as you like, I couldn't care less about your opinion. I don't eat a lot of meat and fish, but I eat eggs, and I have milk on my cereal. If you're happy eating just vegetables, then good for you! It gives me stomach ache to be honest, and when I was a vegetarian I never did manage to really cope with it ...

@Nettle I think that vegans focusing on their own health first and foremost is the way forward :) Also I think that aggressive activism, while it might come from a passionate and well meaning place, isn't the way to go. I meant more people like me that go about daily life as a vegan but get attacked for my personal dietary choices.

I'm sorry that you get attacked for your choices ...😓

Can I ask what kind of people it is who are so unpleasant to you? I know a lot of people get hassle from their families, and from friends, but anyone else shouldn't really even know or care what you eat!😳

Obviously it's nobody's business but yours, and your family and friends are entitled to their opinions, but not to continuously voice those opinions! But I know how some people just can't let go once they get a grip on a subject ...😰
