Is it wrong to hug and kiss a best friend of the opposite gender?

Edit: I assumed you are single because I don't know many people in relationships who's best friend is someone of the opposite gender.

Socially: Hug, no. Kissing is a bit more intimate. An occassional cheek kiss would be considered a likely platonic sign of affection. Or if it's common in the culture to cheek kiss upon greeting or leaving, which it isn't, here.. Kissing on the lips would be pretty confusing, and moving past the realm of ordinary best friendship.
