It appears my Facebook account has been hacked into.

Well, either it's hacked or you have liked a page, game or so on that has the permission to post on your behalf. I would first recommend changing your password, changing your privacy settings to the most private options possible, change the email account that you connected to facebook, check any pages or games you are linked to in facebook and also maybe see if you can report this issue to facebook. https://www.facebook.com/help/131719720300233 Here is a link that might help.
