Why do so many men think women are playing hard to get when they literally just don't like you?

Fact of the matter is the standard is male approaches female. The male goal is to impress the female. And, ambition and drive are things that women value in men. Is it so hard to believe that men use those traits in an attempt to impress women?
Going for a goal against all odds. If women didn't like such a trait, it wouldn't be so common in men.
In addition, it's also the *way* you say no. Women have a tendency towards subtelty. Indirect. Then, they feel like they have been obvious, when they really haven't.
