I was 5 or 6. I didn't want to leave the shallow end because I was terrified. This is probably why I remember the experience.

I don't recall ever being scared of the water, I was nervous my first-time white water rafting, but that was because of the Power of the water not because it was water. lol

My fear was more from having nothing under my feet when I got into the deeper water. Thank goodness this fear didn't last for long.

@ScarlettBlue I used to teach rescue and survival swimming and that is the biggest one. I always started by teaching people how water works and how to float, Once people understand that they can relax and focus on enjoying the experience.
