Why people stop conversation in between without even taking leave ;)

There could be lots of reasons. They are logged on while doing other stuff and not at the screen/site all the time but will stay logged in. They are checking up on other messages and/or notifications during messaging you. There could be other reasons too that I didn't think off while replying. Oh yeah, phone calls, answering the door...
