What was Humpty Dumpty and where did it come from

Origins are unclear.
One theory is that it refers to a 'hunchbacked' soldier fighting in the Battle of Bosworth in the 1500's.
A brave soldier who was surrounded and hacked and slashed repeatedly ('Couldn't put Humpty together again')

@Jamessz Another theory. Another is that it refers to king Charles himself !
Not sure we'll ever know.
