How do you feel about multiverses in fiction?

I don't mind different franchises having multiverses but I'm not crazy about crossovers. I want Star Wars to have two universes one for the first six movies and the old Expanded Universe (now called Legends) and another for the first six movies plus the Disney canon stories. However I don't want the two Star Wars universes to cross over. I like the idea of a Sonic Cinematic Universe with movies and spinoff shows along with spinoff films as well as comics that are canonical to the Sonic Universe. I have heard they might do I Super Smash Brothers style story and have Sonic and Mario together. I'm not crazy for that idea. I want to see the new Mario movie and I've heard that there is going to be a Nintendo Cinematic Universe. I don't think that's a good idea because the Nintendo franchises are too different. I believe there should a Mario Cinematic Universe with a few main movies and some spinoff movies and shows. For the Zelda movies I feel the same way let them be in a separate universe from the games but not crossover with Mario or StarFox. One of my favorite fandoms Mortal Kombat has multiple timelines and a cinematic universe. The newest MK timeline has had crossovers, while I'm not against there being multiple timelines or universes in different franchises I just am not crazy over doing crossovers. What do you all think?

No, just no. Multiverses are so over-done and over statursted and honestly. While cool once in awhile for novelty or in comics, they are for and contribute to stale, lazy, and uncreative writing and in the end water down more franchises and characters than they help to expand kr preserve

I am completely sick and tired and doen with the multiverse mechanic in media. Hiw about someone actually try using creativity and create something new insteadbof taking the lazy glorfied fanfiction route and resting on old laurels of someone else's creation?
