So last New Year’s, my friend invited me to celebrate with her and her family

and I’m honestly still in awe about it. What made it even sweeter was that it was actually her husband who recommended that I join them. Since I’m not home anymore, I really thought I’d just sleep it off and let the night pass quietly.

I wasn’t expecting to be included, especially in something so personal like a family celebration. So when they invited me in, it really touched my heart. The fact that they thought of me, welcomed me into their home, and made me feel comfortable, it meant more than they probably realize.

I’m so, so thankful. Being in a new place can feel lonely sometimes and that night reminded me that there are kind people out there who make you feel like you belong, even when you’re far from home.
