@OogieBoogie Not Koala territory...plenty of snakes. I think they are concerned with vehicle damage, not animal welfare.

But he had to do something about the baseball bat while he was awaiting delivery.
Especially if the old wife caught wind of his order.

"The process for packaging "cask wine" (boxed wine) was invented by Thomas Angove, a winemaker from Renmark, South Australia, and patented by his company on April 20, 1964. Polyethylene bladders of one gallon (4.5 litres) were placed in corrugated boxes for retail sale. The original design required that the consumer cut the corner off the bladder, pour out the serving of wine, and then reseal it with a special peg. This design was based on a product already on the market, a bag in a box used by mechanics to hold and transport battery acid." — Wikipedia
Battery acid, eh?
Only in Oz. 🙄

@Thinkerbell Yes. That made them also suitable for American wine...😷
Thinkerbell · 41-45, F
@whowasthatmaskedman
Actually, Australian wines are not bad, for the money.
As long as they are sold in glass bottles, that is. 🙄
Never saw an American wine sold in a cardboard box. 🙄 🙄 🙄

@Thinkerbell Not surprised. It would show that your gallon is smaller than ours. I cant imagine that sitting well with Americans..😷
Thinkerbell · 41-45, F
whowasthatmaskedman · 70-79, M
@Thinkerbell Yes. We use metric..😷
Thinkerbell · 41-45, F
@whowasthatmaskedman
The imperial gallon is not metric. It is 160 oz (4.546 liters) vs 128 oz for the American gallon.

@Thinkerbell Absolutely correct. And you said it yourself. Our wine casks (boxes) contain 4.5 Litres. It doesnt say gallon. Because we use metric. I simply apply the archaic terms sometimes for the benefit of Americans. An inch is still and inch. A pound is still a pound. A mile is still 1.6 Kilometres..😷

@whowasthatmaskedman
The Wikipedia article said the boxes were 1 gallon (i.e., an imperial gallon)
Did the crooked wine merchants short-change the Aussie winebibbers?

The US has also gone metric in wine and liquor measure. It used to be that a standard bottle of wine or spirits was 1/5 of a (U.S.) gallon, or very close to 757 ml. Now that they have gone metric, the standard is 750 ml, or sometimes a full liter. Larger and smaller metric sizes are also available.
