I Want To Travel Alone Before Traveling With Anyone Else

Yes. I would rather be alone. I could go at my own speed, not be pushed to hurry, or held up because the travel companion would rather sleep for another couple of hours.

And I'd rather drive than fly.

I remember when airports were fun to visit. My mother used to take us out to visit the one at Dorval, to people watch and see the planes taking off and landing. The pace was slower, and people actually looked excited to be there, as if it was an adventure, not a torture.

And people think I won't fly because I'm afraid of crashing. Haha! They're wrong. I won't fly because I won't go to airports, and from what I've heard, the planes are no longer comfortable, except in first class. The passengers aren't pleasant and aren't treated like people, but like cattle, or sheep. It's anybody's guess as to when or if your luggage will arrive, and where it might end up, 🤷🏼‍♀️ it's a game of wait and see.

And then, there are those who look at everyone as if they might be terrorists. I'd rather walk. At least, if I don't like the people, or the pace, I can turn around and walk away from them.

Travel should be fun and it should be easy and slow. I'd love travel, by car if I had six months to get there and six months to get back. The trip would be the destination. Not where I end up, because I'd end up, back home. The enjoyable part would be stopping for as long as I want, wherever it looks like a place I'd want to be. And....I wouldn't go on the super highways. It take the old rural roads. Where the speed limit is 80 kilometres not 120. I'd take pictures everywhere of everything, and make you all jealous.

Dreams are cheap, and safe. I know I can never afford to do this, but I love thinking about the peace and contentment I could enjoy.

IF ONLY!!
That was exactly what I did, fifteen years ago for ten months. Me and my Camry, unplugged. It was a wondrous time. Even though I'm broke now I would not unspend the money I spent on the Rockies, the bayous, the beaches, the Badlands.

@Mamapolo2016 I envy you. I'm glad you had that opportunity.
@Serenitree So am I. This is a marvelous country.

I have a different view - I’m getting tired of doing everything by myself. I agree with you about the rest of it, though.

@SmartKat I've never had that chance. I'm not complaining about having a family, and doing things together, but the only solitude I've had is since my kids and grandkids all became adults. Now, I enjoy the quiet, and still get to share time with them. The best of two worlds.

Road trips are wonderful. Hope to do more. 🙂
