Why do the French have a reputation for being rude? Is this unjustified?

I wonder what rep we Brits have, well I know in some resorts we are regarded very badly and with reason.

go to a french bistro here in the d.c. region watch out, grow a thick skin. they're nasty as hell, not sure if it's a thing or what.

(yes, they're french.)
