Am i driving right?

My dad thinks I'm driving wrong but I think he's just inpatient. I always stop at stop signs right behind the white line then I check to make sure no pedestrians are crossing. Then I slowly pull up to check for oncoming traffic before I decide to make my turn. He gets mad at me every time I do this. He always yells at me and asks "why don't you just pull up that far the moment you get here?!" Its my understanding that you MUST STOP before the white line.

You are driving correctly. Rolling over the white line and leading into the intersection, blocking the crosswalk is not the proper way to drive, and you could be cited for rolling through a stop sign, even if you stopped at the corner because the white line is the stop, not the corner.

yes you technically cannot cross the white line, everybody does it, but I'm sure you would fail your drivers test if you did it.

Its amazing how inpatient people are. All it takes is a quick 5 seconds. 10 seconds at most if someone is crossing. Maybe a little less than 1 minute on a really busy road.
