There is quite a bit in and around Chicago. The Robie house as well as the Frank Lloyd house and studio can be toured: definitely worth seeing.

Nebraska has henry doorly zoo in omaha, one of the best in the world. Also car hinge, ash falls, chimney rock, and the largest rail yard in the world. Go farther west near yellowstone and see the cosmos (kinda gimicky but fun)
Ohio has the hopewell network.

@TravelSolar it's scattered across 2 weeks and like 4 suburbs. Haven't been myself (yet), but it does seem pretty cool. :)
