Richmond Night Market Closing

This summer will be the final one for the Richmond Night Market, famous for its paved lot full of Asian-and-beyond street food in the British Columbia city adjoining Vancouver. The last night will be Sept. 20.

Why are they cancelling it? Not attracting a lot of visitors?

Vancouver has one of the biggest Chinatowns outside of China.

Attracting visitors has never been a problem It's about the value of the land. They lost their lease and the land will be used for a commercial/residential/hotel development that will pay multiple Xs more than they're making from the food booths.

Bummer.

I've been going for years. The last night should be special, celebrations, fireworks (not a fan, but...).

I will be making an effort to be there.
