Once in the eighties my brother and I had to sit on opposite sides in the front of the plane while the stewardess sat in the back, to keep the plane from tipping over. Because we were the only people there with any mass at all. I'm not sure why the other passengers had no weight. But that was real life.
That's apalling.

@Mindfulness you like getting emotionally invested in fiction huh ?
BlueVeins · 26-30
I think that was tried a long time ago but discontinued by airlines bc it weirded ppl out. I wonder if someones trying it out again due to the fuel crisis.

Not weight but I’ve known people who have had to buy two seats. It’s really shameful that has to happen.
StygianKohlrabi · 46-50, M
I've never heard of this

@Steph34 are you certain they didn't just look and ask her to buy another seat? maybe it's some international carrier.
Steph34 · 36-40, F
@StygianKohlrabi yeah, that is a good point, i should get all the info about that.

@StygianKohlrabi “you did not get to be 600 pounds eating salads . Stop lying to me “ - dr now

I don’t believe you
Jenny1234 · 56-60, M
I’ve never seen it happen but I’ve read a few articles where airlines have considered doing it
Sapio · 51-55, M
This is the first I have heard of that happening. But I do know that airlines have a standard when it comes to the weight of a passenger, so it doesn't surprise me.

I doubt this. She's probably just laying it on. She might have had to pay for two seats but nobody is going to be that dumb to step on scales.
They should just have a few seats in the back of the plane that are for larger humans. I don't agree with the mandatory two-seat purchase. It's still just one person.

I have never heard of it and it is wrong
MrBrownstone · 46-50, M
@JSmith75 Charge more for baggage. Same thing.
GuyWithOpinions · 31-35, M
Well.. the plane has a certain weight capacity to fly regardless if its luggage or a person. The seats and capacity are designed for an average sized person. If someone wieghs the amount of 2 average people, it makes sense...
CurrentName · 51-55, M
I'm on the fence on that one.
romell · 51-55, M
Was it mentioned anywhere before booking the tickets if no it's unfair trade practices
Not really sure what you're asking... It sort of reads like a statement posed like a question.
Steph34 · 36-40, F
@DancingStarGoddess yeah I guess it wasn't really fair of her to laugh about that. that was kinda rude everyone said to her.
Steph34 · 36-40, F
@DancingStarGoddess sounds like you loves his job!
Steph34 · 36-40, F
@DancingStarGoddess well the person at work that laughed at her for that, ended up putting a lot of weight and then they had to go on the scales at the airport and then pay for an extra seat...guess that was karma.
GeistInTheMachine · 31-35, M
They should give people discounts the less they weigh.
Sure, that would encourage anorexia, but that's just more publicity.
