What state would you travel to, and what events or activities would you enjoy while you're there?

I am looking for ideas for my next vacation in July. The states closest to ATL are Alabama, Florida, South Carolina, Tennessee, and North Carolina.

July is a hot month. If you want to be out of doors as much as possible (and who doesn't) I recommend New England. There's Cape Cod for the ocean, and there are lakes galore all thru northern New England. Bugs can be a problem, of course.

@ElwoodBlues I never thought about New England, but I will look into it. I have been to Connecticut, but I am pushing more for the states above because I plan on driving instead of flying.
