Great night out in Rotherham

Great night out, great laugh with my family, learnt about my uncle (Aunt's husband) from his brother in his strong Sheffield accent: "You looked at 'im wrong back in 'day and 'e'd be on 'yer like 'Rottweiler 😂

Apologies to the Uber driver who picked us up at midnight, adult men laughing and giggling like six year olds in the Uber, man was laughing so hard my throat hurt.

I feel hungry now, looking at those photos.

I do like that "No swearing" sign - oh that more caterers - and SW - would do that.

That's the first time I've seen a proper text version of Northern English accents. Usually writers add a "t' " as if it's pronounced, as I've often heard lampooned by they Londoners in I'm Sorry I Haven't A Clue but not in reality.
@ArishMell Well this London-Sheffield hybrid knows all about those nuances 🤭

@BritishFailedAesthetic I am so much a Southerner that I have never had to walk more than a mile or so South to get salty wet feet, but my parents were Midlanders and I have many friends in Yorkshire, and have often visited the county.

So have inherited slight accent traits and picked up a few constructions like the suffix "... it were"; and though a Northerner would identify me as a Southern native, some Down Here do think I am from somewhere Up North!

Wonderful things, the British languages and dialects!

Mm love Indian food. The no swearing thing is something I'm never seen before though!
@JimboSaturn It was at a pub there, good luck with that sign in Rotherham! 🤭

@SW-User It was! My dad had a vindaloo which was basically a fahl!

You can always tell it's a posh restaurant by the 'No Swearing' sign on the wall.
@Nimbus That weren't a restaurant 🤭

@BritishFailedAesthetic It's normal to have large neon lights? ;)
@Nimbus That was the Indian. Beer before curry!
