What's a place in your country that you would recommend to someone visiting for the first time?

For me, it would probably be the Wellington Botanic Garden.

So much to see here in the US...

1) New England
Easy to get around and see a bit of it and NE New York.
If you can be in Boston on 4 July, see the USS Constitution and listen to the Boston Pops play Tchaikovsky's 1812 Overture...

2) WDC
Start with the National Archives (Magna Carta, Declaration of Independence, pages of the Constitution).
Add in any of the Smithsonian / National museums you like, incl. Air & Space
See if there are free concerts of any of the military bands.
Add in tours of the White House, Capitol, SCotUS, LoC...

3) NYC
enjoy Central Park
see the UN
9/11 site
art museums
Preserved original Steinway Hall

4) Niagara

5) NASA Cape Canaveral tour of launch sites (watch out for alligators)

6) Chicago Adler Planetarium & Field Museum

7) Sioux Falls park

8) Black Hills of SD

9) Teddy Roosevelt NP, South Unit (ND)

10) Glacier NP (MT)

11) Grand Tetons + Yellowstone NPs

12) Yosemite NP, incl Tuolumne Meadow

13) Crater Lake NP

14) So Cal beaches

15) Mt Wilson & Palomar

16) San Diego Wild Animal Park
