Is planning a spontaneous trip with a stranger a bad idea?

No, I’ve made friends that way. As long as they are decent people.

I’ve spontaneously met people and then made plans with them to hang out and do things during trips to other places before. But you gotta be able to have some initial interactions with them beforehand.

@travelguy01 that's pretty cool. Do you travel often?

How do you avoid awkward silence and stuff?

@darknessprevails Look at my username lol.

But seriously I have gotten back into traveling more in the past couple years since the pandemic, for various reasons.

@darknessprevails Silence doesn’t have to be awkward. Sometimes there isn’t anything to be said. But if you’re doing
and seeing things then eventually something cool will happen to talk about.

@darknessprevails I’ve had opportunity to travel for various reasons. My son visits his mother near Anchorage during certain school breaks so I’ve been out there a number of times over the past year and a half. One of the trips last spring while he was visiting with his mother during spring break was one of the occasions where I met a guy at my hotel bar and we made plans to do a few sightseeing things during that week. I was just there hanging out in Anchorage at the hotel and he was also there visiting family but was tired of doing the same stuff with his cousins every day. So we booked a few tours in the area and saw lots of cool stuff.

I had a couple other trips just by myself last summer, to NYC and to Ohio. And I also take vacation trips with my son. We went to Orlando last summer and are going to the UK and Ireland this summer.

Where do you want to go?

@travelguy01 that's pretty cool. What was in ohio? o_o

@darknessprevails I had a friend there I was visiting whom I had previously only ever talked to online.

I was in San Diego just after this past Christmas on vacation with my son. I love that place.

I’ve been to Phoenix before but never the Grand Canyon.
