Please don’t. There is no ethical way to go on an elephant ride. Elephant Nature Park or Lanna Kingdom in Chiang Mai are great options for sanctuaries that actually take care of their elephants.

In Lampang they nurse the elephants back to good health. Many have their feet blown off from the land mines in Cambodia

Walk around town until you see somebody leading an elephant, and ask him if he's selling rides.
