You have great photos of British places as well as of vintage "birds"...

But I have to ask

a) DOES "The Grand Fish Co." *truly* serve "traditional fish & chips", in your opinion?

and

b) What makes a great *traditional* British fish & chips??

@SomeMichGuy Where large crowds of day trippers congregate , good food is rarely served .
Good Fish & Chips are offered by often , third generation restaurant proprietors, usually with a take away offering as well .
The selection of fish , well selected the chips made from potatoes prepared on the premises ( not frozen fries)
A side dish , peculiar to the British Isles , ‘ mushy peas ‘ , should be served
No longer a cheap meal, but worth seeking out .
@devonman Which fish do you consider to be the best?

I agree regarding the chips (fresh is best!), but had no inkling of "mushy peas".

@SomeMichGuy Most visitors to these shores are repelled by the appearance and taste of mushy peas .
Plaice is my choice of fried fish.
@devonman Plaice...hmmm...ok. I need to familiarize myself with this.

Thanks!

I figured that you would know fish & chip--and how it has evolved there--in a way that the millenials simply cannot. I value your considered opinion!

@devonman Interesting! Fresh mushy peas must be ok!

@devonman Looks like an acquired taste, maybe the inspiration for ketchup. The green is the shade of rotted liver, goes well with spotted dick.

@yunnaf it’s sweetened with sugar too !
