Hawaii, especially Kauai, Scotland, New Zealand, Iceland. Mostly places without venomous snakes so I could feel safer exploring natural areas.

@cherokeepatti Well we do have deadly snakes, spiders, sharks just to name a few
cherokeepatti · 61-69, F
@nedkelly yeah I know, that’s why I didn’t say Australia. If I wanted deadly snakes and spiders I’d just stay home here in Oklahoma. I don’t go out tromping around in wooded areas because of the damned copperheads and rattlesnakes. Can’t get close to the lake shore without looking down and watching around your feet due to Pygmy rattlesnakes near the shore waiting for frogs to catch.

@cherokeepatti Get some snake boots and a good sharp shovel.
cherokeepatti · 61-69, F
@TexChik they can drop out of tree and fall on a person. A man was in a kayak and had a rattlesnake that did that when he was going down a slow river and passed under an overhanging tree branch. He only had his oar to protect himself with. My sister had a snake (I don’t know what kind) drop out of a tree when she was playing on the creek and it fell close to her. Both sisters ran up the road straight home after that happened.

@TexChik Copperheads can camouflage themselves so well with leaves you can step over them and not see them in shaded areas especially.

@cherokeepatti I've been to Kauai - it's a beautiful island.

@cherokeepatti Lake Foss in Oklahoma is really bad about that. The best fishing in the summer is flipping in the brush along the river. Several snakes dropped in the boat with us, we had an oar ready to launch them out.

@craig7 yes I would love to ride the lazy river on an inner tube and do a lot of other things, visit the rain forest and drive all around the edge near the ocean too. There are several climates on one small island.

@TexChik We they water moccasins?
TexChik · F
@cherokeepatti They are unnerving they blend in so well, but snake boots cant be bitten through.
TexChik · F
@cherokeepatti Most were yes, some were water snakes (matrix)
