I currently live in LA and have lived here for most of my life, also lived in San Diego for two years, and Austin Texas for three years but have never been anywhere other than those three cities and surrounding areas. I've been saving a lot of $$$ for a trip to take after I graduate high school, and this will probably be my only chance to go anywhere different because I can't afford to go to college and will have to get a job right out of high school, so I want to go somewhere that's different than what I have experienced before.

Possible suggestions: Las Vegas for a day or two, then get on a bus or shuttle to Laughlin, NV, which is much more pleasant and on a river. Stay at the Del Rio because they're the one that has a beach.
Other possibility: Mexico. Go down to TJ, take a bus to where the train station is (Empalme, I think) and take a train to Guadalajara, then Mexico City. Or take a plane to Alcapulco or Cancun. Baja is nice, too. Don't travel alone. Get with a group or your or take a friend who knows Spanish and Mexico.
