Ottawa, finally
I have to say, I am very proud of myself for being able to get around easily lol. It may sound stupid, but to me, it is a big deal. I am someone who lived their entire life in a small city, and never even saw the rest of the country where they lived or went to far places within the city.. And so when I planned this trip, of moving from a place to another in a whole new, far ,country, I swear without exaggeration, part of me thought that it will never happen, and that I won't be able to follow through!
Today I was even more proud because not only did I travel to Ottawa very smoothly by train (I checked out the whereabouts of the train station yesterday, and bought the tickets just like that only yesterday.. didn't plan it like two years before the date as usual, maybe because I was too charmed by Montreal to think and plan)! The part that surprised me about today though, is that I didn't even take a taxi to my airbnb, but I left the station and took the subway and then walked a little and very easily reached my airbnb! I never thought I could do that in a new city lol I remember my first days in Toronto when I was scared to take the subway, and sort of laugh.. Didn't think I'd look back and laugh at myself that soon!
When I booked the airbnb , the lady sent me a message directing me how to get there after i reach Ottawa by train, I laughed at the time saying to myself, yea right, like I would be able to do that!! But it was easy enough.
My airbnb is lovely!! So clean, located very close to downtown, and is just exactly as described!! I could live here, so cozy so me!! So far, I love downtown Montreal the most.. Yet the people in Ottawa seem more friendly or social than both, Montreal and Toronto. Two strangers initiated talk with me because I seemed lost.. I didn't even ask for their help..
Yet, Ottawa seem to be more quiet than I am used to.. Toronto was too hectic, Ottawa feels quieter and smaller than my normal, and Montreal felt just right size and busy. I am still thinking it is way too freaking early to judge, been only here half a day and I am passing judgements 🤷♀️🥔 It could be because it is a working day it felt quiet, maybe I didn't explore right, I mean I only took a walk for a few hours... maybe maybe.. Idk but it felt too quiet for my taste.
I loved Montreal a lot (but it is a tourist attraction and it is a summer, I am thinking could be part of the reason why it felt busier to me), and if it wasn't for French, I may have seriously considered living there. Many people in Montreal told me it is okay to live there while i don't know French, but then personally I wouldn't do it.. i am looking for a career, and I don't think you can make your way, if you don't speak the dominant language fluently.
I want to better know Ottawa to have a feel if I could see myself living here.. I feel it is easy to get around Ottawa, not like Toronto, that's a plus... I can also sense more work/life balance in the city, while Toronto feels to be all about work, I was like this at some point in my life, but i am not sure I want to be that anymore..
Big decisions to make..
